Voting Begins For Art Bra

Date:

Voting is now open online in the 8th Annual Art Bra Contest. Participants put their creativity skills to the test and decorated bras as a reminder to women everywhere the importance of being screened for breast cancer. Now it’s up to the community to pick their favorite.

“I am truly amazed each year when the Art Bra entries are submitted, “ said Lindsey Mott, Marketing & Communication Specialist at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial and Coordinator of Power of Pink! “Every year they get better and better.”

The Art Bra was created years ago when a woman, who lost her mother to breast cancer, found buttons and trinkets among her mother’s belongings.  She refused to throw them out and instead found a creative way to remember her mother and to help others.  The daughter sewed those buttons and trinkets onto a bra and the rest is history.

The Art Bra Contest has become one of the most anticipated portions of the Power of Pink luncheon.  Whether the winning bra is modeled by breast cancer survivors or male leaders in the community, each year is a surprise to see who will be walking the runway in these outrageous bras.

The community is encouraged to cast ballots for the “People’s Choice” award while 1st, 2nd and 3rd places are chosen by “celebrity” judges.  All bras will be on display at the luncheon.

Go to www.CHIStLukesHealthMemorial.org to cast your vote for the “People’s Choice” winner. Online voting goes through Monday, October 10.  For more information contact Lindsey Mott at 936-639-7613 or lmott@memorialhealth.org.

The Power of Pink luncheon will be held Thursday, October 20 at the Lufkin Pitser Garrison Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at Alene’s Florist, Studio 319, Temple Cancer Center or online at www.chistlukeshealthmemorial.org/news/power-of-pink.
