Moreno Drives in Five in Twinbill
The Angelina College Roadrunners picked up their sixth and seventh wins of the season with Friday’s 10-1, 6-3 doubleheader sweep of TCS PostGrad at Poland Stadium on the AC campus.
Three Roadrunners drove in two runs each in the 10-1 win in the opener: Heladio Moreno, Mason Swidersky and Dylan Bourgeois. Starting pitcher Tyler Ward struck out five batters in his three innings of work; and reliever Kaden Reep struck out a pair of hitters in his time on the mound.
In the nightcap, Heladio Moreno drove in three runs with a pair of hits, and Parker Mason added an RBI with two hits in the game, helping AC rally from a 3-0 deficit for the 6-3 win. Peyton Fosher struck out four hitters over five innings. Brad Wilcott and James Grantland each pitched scoreless innings in relief, with Grantland striking out the side in the seventh to finish the game.
The Roadrunners (7-3) will host Blinn College on Tuesday in a doubleheader scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
