Roadrunners Handled Victoria College

AC Moves to .500 in Conference Standings

The Angelina College Roadrunners weren’t about to let an opponent’s overall record set up a “trap game” on Saturday – not with positioning in the conference standings on the line.

Facing a Victoria College team with just one win in 20 tries, the Roadrunners took care of business at home, beating the Pirates 73-39 at Shands Gymnasium.

AC dominated from the opening tip, racing out to a 14-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and extending the lead to 31-9 by the end of the first half.

The win pushed AC to 11-12, 7-7 on the season, with the conference record even more important as teams enter the final stretch before the upcoming Region XIV Conference Tournament.

AC’s Caleb Johnson went 7-of-8 from the field to lead the Roadrunners in scoring with 16 points. Raeshaun Ambris added 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals; and Quandre Bullock finished with nine points and seven boards.

Ky Blodget led the Pirates with eight points.

The Roadrunners will travel to Port Arthur on Wednesday to face the Lamar State College-Port Arthur Seahawks. Game time is 7 p.m.

AC’s next home game will be on Saturday, Feb. 19 against Lee College. That game will feature “Orange Out” activities; all fans in attendance are encouraged to wear orange in support of the Roadrunners.
