Rep. Ashby Addresses Chamber Luncheon

Date:

State Rep. Trent Ashby was the guest speaker at the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce First Friday Luncheon held at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin, Texas.

Points Rep. Ashby covered include:

  • A historic 25% cut to the franchise tax
  • Providing measures in the budget to allow Texas Department of Criminal Justice to fill more than 3,500 vacant positions, which means more jobs across the state of Texas
  • New Article III provisions allow educators to individually assess students who do not pass STAR tests. Principals and teachers can meet to discuss students’ potential and make the decision in house whether a student passes and/or graduates, saving the State millions of dollars in education funding.
