Pineywoods Region Fishing Report: February 7th-10th

We’re gearing up for some great weather this weekend, so check out Texas Parks and Wildlife’s lake/fishing conditions for this weekend for Deep East Texas:

B.A. Steinhagen

GOOD. Water stained; 57-58 degrees; 0.43’ low. Largemouth bass are good with spinners and crankbaits moving to several submerged vegetation spots. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Catfish are good on cut and prepped bait.

Bob Sandlin

FAIR. Water stained; 52 degrees; 0.20’ high. Black bass are fair on Carolina rigs swim jigs spoons and spinnerbaits- some coming off shallow cover- better fish coming off of channel bends in deeper water. Crappie are fair with jigs and minnows; have to keep moving to find bigger bites if water temps drop to 50, historically they will stack up on the River channel. Catfish are fair on cut bait and blood bait.

Caddo

FAIR. Water stained; 51-52 degrees; 1.03’ high. Largemouth bass are fair fishing in the lakes and edges of vegetation. Crappie are fair on smaller minnows and jigs fishing shallow gaps in vegetation and stumps. White bass are fair on small spinners in the open waters and points. Chain Pickerel are fair. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live bait.

Conroe

FAIR. Water stained; 59-61 degrees; 1.84’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs, live shad, and crankbait dragging the tops of vegetation. Crappie are slow on minnows and jigs. Hybrid striped bass are fair on shad in open water. Catfish are good on stinkbait and cut bait. Sunfish are good with live worms or crickets in shallow water.

Fork

FAIR. Water stained; 52-54 degrees; 1.60’ low. Largemouth bass are good on slugs, worms, and Alabama Rigs on deep points, and eastern humps. White and yellow bass are fair on Alabama Rigs. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows around any structure. Catfish are fair on prepared bait and cut bait.

Houston County

GOOD. Water stained; 60-61 degrees; 0.17’ high. Black bass are good on live minnows and shad colored baits at 12 to 16 feet depth in 20-25 feet of water.

Lake O’ the Pines

GOOD. Water stained; 53-55 degrees; 0.02’ high. Largemouth bass are fair on worms and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on mostly minnows, and jigs when fishing over structure. Catfish are good on live bait throughout. White Bass have been fair on Alabama Rigs deeper. Sunfish are poor till the water warms.

Livingston

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 59-60 degrees; 0.04’ high. Largemouth bass are fair working Carolina rigged worms, spinners, and jigs above points and in coves. Striped bass are fair on spoons and live shad. Crappie are excellent on minnows and jigs in the creeks. White bass are good on spoons main lake suspending points. Catfish are fair on live baits.

Martin Creek

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 54 degrees; 2.61′ low. Largemouth bass are good during the spawn on soft plastic baits in shallower than normal water. Expect to keep catching largemouth when you’ve found a good bed. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows in creek curves. Catfish are excellent on live bait, cut bait, or prepped bait throughout the lake.

Naconiche

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 59 degrees; Largemouth bass are good on spinners, and jigs, moving shallower to obvious vegetative areas. Crappie are good on jigs, and crappie minnows under vegetation, and structure. Sunfish are fair on jigs and crickets. Catfish are good on dough balls, cut and live bait.

Raven

GOOD. Water stained; 58-60 degrees; Largemouth bass are good with worms, topwater, and spinners working edges of vegetation. The activity has been high throughout the day. Sunfish are fair on crickets and cutworms.

Sam Rayburn

GOOD. Water stained; 57-59 degrees; 0.63’ low. Largemouth bass are good in shallow water working crankbaits, worms, and spinners. White bass are fair on minnows and small cranks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs casting shallow structure. Catfish are good on live and stinkbait.

Toledo Bend

FAIR. Water slightly stained; 52-54 degrees; 4.61’ low. The largemouth bass bite has been fair on crankbaits and spinners defining submerged brush with boat instruments. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are fair on chicken livers and dough bait.

Tyler

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 51-53 degrees; 0.90’ low. Black bass are good on Carolina rigged creature baits, spinners, worms, and jigs fishing dock structures and natural shorelines with drops. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows in submerged structure, and boat docks. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live baits. White bass are slow.

Wright Patman

FAIR. Water stained; 51 degrees; 4.40’ high. Largemouth bass are good on slow-moving worms and jigs trying vegetation, timber, and man-made structures. White bass are good on slabs and spoons on main lake points and most bass habitats. Crappie are fair on jigs in brush piles. Catfish are fair on cut bait, live bait, and stinkbait.
