Not 18 hours after leaving the pitch following a Saturday evening game, the Angelina College Roadrunners were back in action in a makeup game Sunday against Laredo College.
The effects of the back-to-back action didn’t show themselves until the second half, when the Palominos broke open a scoreless tie with five goals over the next 45 minutes to down the Roadrunners 5-0 at Jase Magers Field in Lufkin.
Laredo’s Cristhian Quintero scored a hat trick for the Palominos, rattling two goals off the posts and banging home a header off a cross from teammate Angel Garza later in the match. Juan Carlos Salazar and Carlos Reynoso accounted for the other Laredo goals.
The Roadrunners will close out their season on Tuesday when the team hosts Jacksonville College as part of a women/men doubleheader. The Lady Roadrunners will take on the Lady Jaguars at 5:30 p.m., and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m. AC will celebrate Sophomore Night in pre-game festivities.
