Ladyjacks Seek Fourth-Straight at Home Against Northwestern State

Date:

Stephen F. Austin’s Ladyjack Basketball (13-3, 6-1 SLC) returns home tonight to William R. Johnson Coliseum as the Northwestern State Lady Demons (5-11, 2-5 SLC) look to gain their first road win of the season.

Looking to extend their win streak to four, the Ladyjacks currently rank in the top 30 nationally in scoring margin (19.1 points per game), scoring defense (54.0), rebound margin (9.1), steals per game (10.8), and assists per game (17.1). SFA’s Aiyana Johnson was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week after propelling the Ladyjacks to two home wins last week, including a 102-41 dismantling of Central Arkansas, who at the time touted the 12th-ranked best scoring defense in the nation. Through the week Johnson averaged 12.5 points from the field and a 58.8 field goal percentage- Boosting her overall percentage to a respectable .561- Good for second in the conference overall.

Still feeling the sting of a three point loss on the road to New Orleans on January 4th, the Ladyjacks are currently one game back from first in the conference and looking to stay in the race with games on the road at Lamar (8-9, 4-4 SLC) this Saturday and next Wednesday at home against Abilene Christian (13-2, 5-1 SLC), before an all-important showdown in Huntsville against the conference-leading Sam Houston (13-4, 8-0) next Saturday. Tip-off at William R. Johnson is scheduled for tonight at 6:30pm.
