Hall Leads ‘Jacks to @WACsports Victory Against UTRGV

Date:

The Lumberjacks took care of business in The Sawmill on Tuesday night as Head Coach Kyle Keller and company took down UTRGV for win No. 2 in WAC play, 86-75. SFA improves to 10-5, 2-1 WAC heading into a traditional rivalry with the Sam Houston Bearkats on Saturday.

Lots of involvement for the ‘Jacks tonight with five different players contributing in double-figures led by Sadaidriene Hall (18p/9r/3a/2s/1b), followed by Jaylin Jackson-Posey (16p/3r/1b), Calvin Solomon (14p/6r/2a/3s), David Kachelries (13p/5r/2a/1s) and Latrell Jossell (11p/1r/5a2s).

UTRGV opened up the game with two three-pointers to put the Vaqueros on top 6-0, but the ‘Jacks responded back with eight-straight points to soon take a 21-12 lead from a pair of makes at the free throw line from Calvin Solomon. SFA led by as many as 18 at 2:06 in the first half, taking a 15-point advantage into the break thanks to a 10-1 run to close the first 20 minutes of play.

The Vaqueros came within six early on in the second with the score at 47-41 SFA, soon to be matched by Hall knocking down two free throws of his own in addition to a layup from Solomon to put the ‘Jacks back up by 10, 51-41. UTRGV was able to make a few runs late down the stretch as it was a five-point contest at 80-75 with 1:09 on the clock, squared away by SFA scoring the final six points of the game.

SFA converted on 30 fast breaks points on the evening and 19 points off of UTRGV turnovers to secure the victory.
