“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.” – Gianni Versace
Can’t wear black with brown? Can’t match florals and stripes? Can’t wear denim as a dress-up?
Yes, you can.
Wear black with brown, mix and match patterns, and wear a denim dress to an office meeting. That’s OK to do, just make sure you look and feel fabulous while wearing it.
Some may look at fashion and trends of this era and really not know what to think, and that is exactly how it should be.
The ’90’s are back; chokers are in my every day rotation. I have a pair of pants that has a brown and black pattern, something I would have never dared to do 10 years ago. I read a post today on Elle.com that stated the denim skirt was back. Just one Google search will show the latest trends, and you will see – personal style is what’s in. And as a 29-year-old woman, I say it’s about time. How you feel dressing and what you like is how it should have always been.
I’m not worried about the latest trend or the latest six inch heel. I wear what makes me comfortable. If that’s a flowy, floral tunic top or a pair of leggings with cameras on it and a turquoise top, I’m going to wear it. Yes, I do dress appropriate for the situation, but I dress for me and how I want to style my attire.
So, feel comfortable, feel confident, and wear what expresses that. If you want to wear leggings as pants, that’s OK, if you want to wear a denim miniskirt, do it, and if you want to wear crazy patterns as a 65-year-old woman, wear it.
