COMMISSIONERS APPROVE PROJECTS FOR LUFKIN DISTRICT

The Texas Transportation Commission met Thursday and approved more than $395.9 million in construction projects statewide, with more than $1.7 million approved for the Lufkin District.

Houston County was approved for a construction project on SH 7 from .3 miles east of FM 227 to the Angelina County line that will include resurfacing and roadway restoration. Moore Brothers, Lufkin, will serve as contractor for the $1.1 million project. No timeline for completion has been set.

Commissioners also approved a $615,934 construction project earmarked for bridge maintenance in various locations districtwide. DBI Services, LLC, Hazleton PA, will serve as contractor for the project. No timeline for completion has been set.

As these projects are scheduled to begin, pre-construction meetings will be held between TxDOT officials, contractors and utility companies.

Motorists should be aware of these work zones that as they are set and reduce speed, obey all traffic control and stay alert.
