Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Holding Meetings to Highlight Services to Rural Areas

Date:

The Dallas Regional Office Staff of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be traveling through East Texas, conducting a series of “Rural Round-Up” Stakeholder Meetings. Their Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) region – Area Agency on Aging (AAA) meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th from 1 to 3 p.m. at Angelina County Senior Citizens Center, 2800 Valley Ave, Lufkin, Texas.

CMS is organizing and focusing its efforts to better “apply a rural lens” to the vision and work of the agency. This initiative will enhance the positive impacts CMS policies have on beneficiaries & providers who live and practice in underserved areas. The information provided will include the highlighting of Medicare’s expansion of rural health care policies, reducing provider & patient burden, Medicare transparency, changes in policy for durable medical equipment, and the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program.

The CMS Dallas representatives will also be available to provide answers to Medicare questions that you may have. Please come take part in this Rural Medicare engagement opportunity! There is no cost to attend, but space is limited, so please register as soon as possible. Contact Pam Irvin in the AAA Aging and Disability Resource Center at 800-256-6848 ext. 5307 to register.
