BRIDGE REPLACEMENT SCHEDULED IN HOUSTON COUNTY

Date:

A road closure is planned beginning Jan. 13 east of Grapeland in Houston County that will continue up to four months.

Crews have placed message boards on FM 227 East at San Pedro Creek alerting motorists of new construction. A.L. Helmcamp Construction, Inc., Buffalo TX, will serve as contractor for the $1.4 million construction project to remove and replace the San Pedro Creek Bridge near Refuge Cemetery Road.

Motorists should choose alternate routes during the closure, stay alert and obey all traffic control in place. Detour signs are placed in various locations on FM 227, FM 2423, FM 2022 North and in Grapeland alerting the public around the closure. Work is expected to be completed by May, weather permitting.
