The Angelina College sonography program is now accepting applications for acceptance into the program each year. Previously, program applications were accepted only every other year. Applications for the fall 2019 semester are due July 15.
Casey Davis, sonography program director, said that students must first complete their prerequisites before they can be considered for acceptance into the program. The prerequisite courses are General Anatomy & Physiology, English Composition, College Algebra, General Psychology, Elementary Physics, and Introduction to Sonography. These courses must be completed by the end of the second summer semester.
Students must also attend an information session about the program. Sessions are scheduled for March 7 and April 4. Both sessions are at 5:30 p.m. in the Health Careers II building, room 223.
“Students who complete the program can expect to find employment in hospitals, doctors offices, free-standing emergency rooms, and outpatient clinics,” Davis said. Salaries for sonographers start at approximately $52,000.
