The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded Angelina College the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive financial report (CAFR). This is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting.
This is the fifth time AC has earned this honor. Less than 1 percent of entities qualify for this award nationally, and only a handful in the East Texas region. The GFOA also awarded the Angelina College business office the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for preparing the award-winning CAFR. According to the GFOA’s news release, AC’s financial report was found to meet the organization’s high standards, including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential user groups to read the CAFR.
Chris Sullivan, vice president of business affairs at Angelina College said, “We are honored to receive the award again. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication to transparency throughout Angelina College and the business office. We look forward to maintaining the GFOA’s and AC’s internal high standards in coming years.”
