ANGELINA COLLEGE BANDS HOLDING CONCERT OCT. 3

LUFKIN, TEXAS, Sept. 27, 2016 – The Angelina College Swingin’ Road Runner Jazz Combo will team up with the AC Chamber Winds for a concert on Oct. 3 at 7:30 in Hudgins Hall Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors, students and children.

The jazz combo will play classic jazz standards and blues arrangments for a small group. The set list includes “Watermelon Man” by H. Hancock, “C Minor Blues” by J. Abersold, “Song For My Father” by H. Silver, and “All Blues” by M. Davis. Combo members this year are Max Vallejo, tenor sax (Lufkin); Trevor Powell, bass trombone (Liberty); Earl Howell, drum set (Corrigan); Qurdale Huff, bass (Clarksville); and director Larry Greer, piano.

The AC Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Jimmy Battle will perform “Fanfare and Flourishes” by James Curnow, “Acclamations” by Ed Huckaby, and “The Forge of Vulcan” by Michael Sweeney. Ensemble members are Heather Barney, trombone (Liberty); Kylie Briggs, trumpet (Lufkin); Kelsie Castleberry, flute/oboe (Cushing); Clarissa Garcia, horn (Lufkin); Bethe Girardi, baritone saxophone (Lufkin); Melanie Gonzales, Bb clarinet (Rosenberg); Earl Howell, percussion (Corrigan); Trevor Powell, tuba/bass (Liberty); Nick Whistler, percussion (Lufkin);

Rose Wilson, flute (Diboll); Austin Yarbrough, trombone (Central); Marina Zinck, flute (Nacogdoches) and director Jimmy Battle, trumpet.

Nancy Reynolds
Nancy Reynolds has proudly served Angelina College since 2000. She began serving as AC’s communications coordinator in 2005. Prior to that, she was the public relations specialist. Reynolds earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught speech courses as an adjunct for AC for eight years. As communications coordinator, Reynolds’ responsibilities include the following: writing news releases, directing social media, collaborating with the marketing team, managing the Angelina College brand, coordinating publications, managing web content, coordinating internal communications and providing media training. Reynolds lives in Lufkin with her husband Reg. They have two sons, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and one cat.
