What’s In: Top Trends of 2016

Date:

2016 has been a crazy year for fashion and style.

This year was filled with so many innovative breakthroughs and returns of amazing trends from the past. With the year coming to an end, it is time to recap the best trends of 2016.

Over the knee boots were the go-to trend during every season in 2016.

Over the Knee Boots: These boots were the go-to trend during every season in 2016.  Over-the-knee boots are best paired with oversized sweaters, miniskirts, and jeans. These boots are surely not going out of styles any time soon, so grab a pair for winter 2016/2017!

Off the Shoulder Everything: This year we were obsessed with off-the-shoulder everything. It all started with off-the-shoulder crop tops in the spring and summer then the trend moved into sweaters in the fall. This trend has even been created by wearing jackets on the arms instead on the shoulders.

Bomber Jackets: Bomber jackets were the ultimate accessory this year! They come in so many colors, textures, and prints that it is easy to find one to suit your individual style.

Caps: 2016 has been the year for easy, natural hair and caps are just another part of the trend.

Velvet came back with a splash in 2016.

Velvet: Velvet is everywhere in 2016. On blazers, shoes, dresses and in some seriously vibrant colors.

Chokers: This 90s-trend made a well-received comeback in 2016. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid embraced the choker trend.

Slip Dresses: Another trend to re-emerge from the 90s is the slip dress. Pair a slip dress with a t-shirt or a duster coat in the winter.

Bralettes: Bralettes were all over the celebrity circuit in 2016. Chrissy Teigen, Kourtney Kardashian, and Selena Gomez are a few celebrities who picked up on the trend. Bralettes can be worn with sheer tops, workout tanks, or underneath a jacket/blazer.

Heeled Booties: Booties are another trend that flowed through into each season. We wore them with miniskirts and shorts in the spring, and jeans and sweaters in the fall.

Athletic Shoes: Athleisure took off this year and became a high fashion trend. One of the easiest ways to achieve the athleisure trend is to pair sneakers with a nice outfit, in the place of heels.

These 10 trends were my favorites of 2016, but I cannot wait to see what 2017 brings for fashion and style.
