TxDot, Law Enforcement to Hold Press Conference

MEDIA: Lufkin Police Cpl. Brad Davis, Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches and TxDOT spokesperson Rhonda Oaks will speak at a press conference launching the statewide Work Zone Awareness campaign aimed at reducing crashes and fatalities in work zones.

Local law enforcement statistics will be presented and the Move Over Slow Down law explained. This is a media event. Local law enforcement representatives are also invited to attend and represent their local agencies.

 

LUFKIN — In recognition of National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 9-13, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Lufkin Police Department and the Angelina County Sheriff’s Department will present 2017 statistics and explain the Move Over Slow Down law now being enforced. Last year in Texas, work zone crashes increased 5 percent, resulting in a 9-percent increase in fatalities over 2016.

Please plan for a representative from your media outlet to attend this important event. The media is encouraged to prepare questions that will be answered by the speakers during the press conference.

Rhonda Oaks
Rhonda Oaks is the Public Information Officer for the nine-county Lufkin District of the Texas Department of Transportation. A Lufkin native, she is a graduate of Hudson High School and Angelina College. She has a background in print journalism and worked for many years as a newspaper reporter and a freelance writer.
