TransCanada Announces Continued Three Year Agreement with ETCF

Date:

TransCanada Pipelines USA announced Tuesday that they are continuing their commitment to East Texas nonprofits by funding three additional years of grants through The TransCanada Charitable Fund at East Texas Communities Foundation. TransCanada Pipelines USA has agreed to fund an additional $25,000 per year, for three years totaling $75,000 in grants through 2019.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the East Texas Communities Foundation and contribute to building strong and vibrant communities in the state. In the last four years, we’ve seen a wide range of nonprofit organizations successfully improve the health and vitality of East Texas communities with help from the Foundation, so we look forward to supporting many more important local initiatives in the years to come,” said Dennis Granger, Director, U.S. Oil Operations, TransCanada. “Giving back to the communities where we live and work has always been part of our everyday culture – for us, it’s all part of being a good neighbor, a trusted community partner and an employer of choice.”

The TransCanada Charitable Fund makes grants in support of strong projects based on good ideas and compelling needs which have the potential to improve our communities and the lives of the people living in them. Funding is offered in the East Texas counties traversed by TransCanada pipeline operations and projects, which currently include Angelina, Chambers, Cherokee, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Hardin, Harris, Hopkins, Jefferson, Lamar, Liberty, Nacogdoches, Polk, Rusk, Smith, Upshur and Wood Counties. Applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or government entities. Services must be available to citizens of the community without regard to race or religion. In the past four years, beginning in 2013, the TransCanada Fund has granted over $128,000 to 40 East Texas nonprofits.

“East Texas Communities Foundation is pleased to support TransCanada’s charitable initiatives for the East Texas region by administering a grant application process to identify and select meaningful projects. This charitable fund is a win-win for ETCF and TransCanada,” said ETCF President, Kyle Penney. “This fund helps ETCF meet our mission of simplifying charitable giving for individuals and organizations in East Texas; and it supports the efforts of a global corporation to make a meaningful impact in the communities in which they do business.”

The TransCanada Charitable Fund encourages grant requests up to $5,000 for projects and programs in the following areas:

* Community – TransCanada is committed to building strong and vibrant communities. Eligible initiatives should bring communities together, develop leadership, and engage citizens.

* Safety – TransCanada is committed to the safety and well-being of the communities near our operations. Eligible projects will enable emergency personnel to respond quickly and effectively to local needs and focus on emergency preparedness, accident prevention, and safety education and training.

* Environment – TransCanada is committed to protecting the environment. Eligible programs will conserve important habitat, protect species at risk, and educate the public about the importance of the environment.

Applications for 2017 grants will open in May 2017. The online application and more detailed requirements may be accessed by visiting the East Texas Communities Foundation website, www.etcf.org. Grant recipients will be announced in August 2017. For more information, please call Mary Lynn Smith at (903) 533 – 0208.
