Simply put, the Angelina College Roadrunner basketball team has hit a rough spot in its conference schedule.
Since beating a good Navarro College team back on Jan. 5, the ‘Runners have dropped three straight in Region XIV play, with two of those games taking place on the road. Bossier Parish College, currently undefeated in league play, bested AC 93-84 Saturday in Bossier City to hand the Roadrunners their longest losing streak of the year despite a 20-point effort from Kevin Norman and 16 more from Bryan Mitchell.
Lamar-PA’s Seahawks have also struggled lately, losing three of their past four games to fall to 1-6 in the standings. Rodney Brown leads the Seahawks in scoring at 13.1 points per game, but he’s the only player averaging in double figures.
The ‘Runners and Seahawks will face off on Wednesday night at Shands Gymnasium. A Roadrunner win will keep the team near the top of the South Division standings, while a loss would drop it into a tie with the Seahawks.
The team will also recognize students and educators from Brookhollow, Trout, Herty and Coston schools, with teachers competing at half time in the “Teacher Tussle 2018” basketball game.
Game time for the Roadrunners and Seahawks is Thursday 1/18/2018 at 7 p.m. Fans can view the live stream at angelinaathletics.com.
