After opening the season with five straight losses – four to nationally ranked McLennan College – the Angelina College baseball team appears to be hitting its stride.
The Roadrunners on Monday beat Tyler College 9-4 in Tyler, giving AC its third win in the past four games. Sam Haley drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run homer. Dylan Murphy drove in two more, finishing the day with two hits and a sacrifice fly; and Garrett Boes and Alec Paz each drove in a run.
Jeff Livin’s pre-season prophecy of using as many pitchers as it takes is proving to be the right decision. On Monday, Lance Lusk went five innings, striking out five and allowing a single earned run. Garrett Herrmann and Kyle Allen each pitched two innings, with neither allowing an earned run.
Weather permitting, the Roadrunners will host Houston Community College in a pair of seven-inning games starting at 3 p.m. Friday at Roadrunner Field.
