PROJECTS APPROVED FOR LUFKIN DISTRICT

LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission last week approved more than $392.5 million in new construction projects in the state, with $3.1 million approved for projects in the Angelina, Nacogdoches and Sabine counties.

In Angelina County, $1.5 million was approved for construction on US 69 from .24 miles north of FM 841 to 1.2 miles south of FM 1669. The project is designed to resurface the roadway with a thin overlay mixture. Moore Brothers Construction Company, Lufkin, will serve as contractor.

A $1.6 million project was also approved in Nacogdoches County and Sabine County and will include improving guardrail to design standards and safety treating fixed objects on SH 21 from SH 7 to the San Augustine County line and from the San Augustine County line to FM 3448. AR Brothers Construction Services, San Augustine, will serve as contractor.
Also approved for the Lufkin District was $464,563 in maintenance work at various locations in the Lufkin District. The work will be on US 59 and will include bridge preventative maintenance work. Champion Infrastructure, Georgetown, will serve as contractor.

The Trinity County Airport in Groveton was also awarded an $180,000 state grant for lighting improvements as part of the capital improvement funding to upgrade or preserve the airport to state standards.

The next Texas Transportation Commission meeting is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 125 East 11th St., Austin, TX in the Ric Williamson Hearing Room. All commission meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted eight days prior to the meeting at txdot.gov.
