Memorial Clinics Welcomes Infectious Diseases Specialist

LUFKIN, TEXAS (July 12, 2017)… CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Clinics welcomes Karanpreet S. Bains, M.D., Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases to its growing team of specialists and primary care providers.
Board Certified Infectious Disease Specialist Karanpreet S. Bains, M.D. began seeing patients on July 12.
Dr. Bains’ extensive training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases comes with a special emphasis on the diagnosis, management and treatment of infectious conditions including:
· Blood Stream Infections
· Bone and Joint Infections
· Central Nervous System Infections, such as Meningitis
· Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) Infections
· Fever of unknown origin
· Fungal Infections
· HIV / AIDS treatment and prevention (including HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis)
· Post-surgical Infections
· Respiratory Tract Infections, such as Pneumonia
· Skin and Soft Tissue Infections
· Treatment of Multi-drug resistant organisms
· Urinary Tract Infections
· Viral Hepatitis
He will provide both hospital and outpatient consultations and treatment.
Dr. Bains comes to Lufkin from Merit Health Northwest MS Regional Medical Center and the Merit Health Medical Group in Marks, Mississippi, where he provided in-hospital consultations and clinic hours for outpatients. As Chair of the Infection Control Committee, he was responsible for formulating and implementing Infection Control policies within the hospital.
After graduating from medical school in India, Dr. Bains completed his Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Bains will begin consulting patients in the hospital, as well as in his office at 1111 W. Frank Ave., Ste. 202 on July 12. Dr. Bains is conveniently located inside the Cardwell Professional Building on the CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial campus. Patients can schedule an appointment Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon by calling 639-7851. His office accepts most major insurance and Medicare.
