Makerspace: Vortex Air Cannons

Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 5:30 to 6:40 p.m.

Head to the Nacogdoches Public Library to create a giant vortex air cannon and bring home the skills to make one again later. Crowds have previously loved this event. This event is free and requires no registration.

Nacogdoches ISD’s Meet the Teacher

Thursday, Aug. 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The school year is almost here, Nacogdoches ISD’s Meet the Teacher is too. The 2016-2017 school year is upon us, and we want you to meet your new teacher! Mark your calendars to come and meet your child’s teacher. Bring your child to meet their teacher. Questions will be answered to ease first-day-of-school jitters.

Chocolate Tastings and Pairings

Thursday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 7:10 p.m.

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Exercise your taste buds and learn about the different types of chocolate, as well as ways to incorporate it into your favorite recipes.

End of Summer Bash

Friday, Aug. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

As school quickly approaches, come spend a night celebrating the end of summer with chocolate, games, and a summer reading prize drawing. All ages are welcome, and no registration is necessary.

Lego Club

Saturday, Aug. 20 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The library has thousands of Lego® pieces from which to choose to build whatever you can imagine. It’s fun for the whole family! Some of the Lego creations can also end up displayed in the library. Ages 5-17 years. No registration.

Telephone and Email Etiquette Workshop

Livingston Back to School Fair

Thursday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We’re giving away school supplies again this year to all students in Pre-K through grade 12. There will be giveaways, health information, safety, nutrition, and more. One backpack with school supplies will be given to each school aged child while supplies last. An adult must accompany the child. No income varification is necessary.

Edward Jones Perspective Seminar

Polk County First Responders Appreciation Dinner and Benefit

Friday, Aug. 19 from 5 to 10 p.m.

This will be a dinner and benefit so the community can show their support and give thanks to our first responders. All proceeds will go to the Polk County Peace Officers Association. BBQ Plates will be $10. We will have a live auction, silent auction, raffles, 50/50 raffle, live music and more!!! We hope everyone can join us. Laci Booth and The David Allen Band will be providing entertainment.
