Mike Love & Assoc., LLC 11th Annual 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza

Monday, July 4, from 3 – 10 p.m.

Come enjoy the largest fireworks display in all of East Texas! First 1,500 children will receive a free pair of 3-D glasses to watch the fireworks. First 1,000 adults will receive a free Koozie. Come early for good parking and good seating!

Museum of East Texas Art Camp

Come join the Museum of East Texas for Art Camp! Classes are available for students ages 3-14 in a variety of media. Each session of Art Camp meets Monday through Friday for a half day (9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 – 4 p.m.). Scholarships are available.

Fab Five Beatles Tribute Band

Saturday, July 9 at 7 p.m.

The Fab 5 is a Houston, Texas based Beatles Tribute Band performing the greatest hits of the Beatles and the Pop Beat music of the 60s and 70s! SFA Summer Movie Series

Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

The Student Activities Association at Stephen F. Austin State University hosts a Summer Movie Series on Tuesday nights and Wednesday afternoons. While the community is always welcome to our year round movie program, the summer is designed for families and children! Join us at the Baker Pattillo Student Center 2nd Floor Theater Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 2 p.m. for a show! Cash only Concessions available : $1 items and $2 combo pack (drink, popcorn, and a candy).

SFASU Screening of “This Ain’t No Mouse Music”

This film by Chris Simon and Maureen Gosling tells the story of Chris Strachwitz and Arhoolie Records as Strachwitz journeys to plantations and prisons, roadhouses and whorehouses, churches and bayou juke joints, to return with recordings that would revolutionize the sound of popular music.

Minecraft Mania 1, Season 1

Saturday, July 2, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Team up with us on the library’s own Minecraft server. We provide the laptops and access to the game, and you provide the creativity and fun. For those with a laptop and game license, feel free to bring your own and join the fun. Ages 7-11 years.

Wayne Welch Book Signing

Saturday, July 2, 1 – 3 p.m.

Wayne Welch, who previously lived in Nacogdoches, will be signing his first two recently published books, “The Bible Speaks on Mental Health and Personal Growth Issues” and a christian children’s book, “Ricky Raccoon’s Dangerous Adventures.” “The Bible Speaks on Mental Health and Personal Growth Issues” is meant to help hurting Christians and address personal growth issues from both a biblical and psychological perspective. “Ricky Raccoon’s Dangerous Adventures” relays a message to children–“listen to your parents.”

Freedom Fest

Monday, July 4, from 5 – 9 p.m.

Families are invited for food, games, contests, music, and more– all part of the annual Freedom Fest hosted by the Nacogdoches Jaycees.  This all-American event is free to the public and will include a spectacular firework show after dark.

The event will be held in Festival Park, just south of downtown Nacogdoches, on July 4, starting at 5pm.  Washer Tournament sign ups ($20/team) will be on site, commencing competition at 6pm.  There will also be a free-to-enter Hotdog Eating Competition at 6:30pm.  Food vendors, a children’s activity area, and other community sponsors will be present as well to ensure a great evening for all. After dark there will be a fireworks show.

Summer Stage Theater Festival at SFA

June 24 – July 16

The Summer Stage Festival is slated for June 24 through July 16 in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus. This year’s festival features the School of Theatre’s presentations of the children’s musical “A Year With Frog and Toad” by Robert and Willie Reale and “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” a witty comedy by actor, screenwriter, and stand-up comic Steve Martin.

Live demonstrations of frontier life, folklore, entertainment, arts & crafts, and a parade, pageant, carnival rides, and laser light show will be available.
