Commission Approves New Projects For Lufkin District

LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved more than $833.1 million in new construction projects across the state, with six projects located in the Lufkin District that total more than $78.3 million.
Four of the newly approved projects are located in Angelina County, two in Nacogdoches County, one each in Houston, Polk and San Jacinto counties and include:
  • Angelina County: A $71.6 million construction project that will widen US 69 from two lanes to a divided rural four lane highway from FM 844 to FM 1270 was approved. Work to clear the right of way through this 11.2 -mile section of roadway is already underway. No timeline for completion of the project has been set. Johnson Brothers Construction, A Southland Company, Roanoke, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Angelina County: A $388,001 construction project was approved that will replace the bridge and approaches on Robinson Lane at Gilliland Creek. No timeline for completion has been set. Trevway, Inc., Katy, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Angelina County: A $16,869 construction project on FM 326 from SH 103 to FM 1475 was approved for a distance of 1.8 miles. The project is designed to set profile edgeline markings. Stripe-A-Zone Inc., Grand Prairie, TX, will serve as contractor.
  • Angelina County: A $16,392 construction project on FM 1336 from 1.8 miles west of FM 324 to FM 324 for a distance of 1.8 miles. The project is designed to set profile edgeline markings. Stripe-A-Zone Inc., Grand Prairie, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Nacogdoches County: A $2.5 million construction project was approved on FM 1638 to safety treat fixed objects and provide additional paved surface from FM 698 to US 59/SL 224. The construction project will continue for a length of 4.2 miles. No timeline for completion has been set. Pinto Construction Company, Inc., Nacogdoches, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Nacogdoches County:  A $1.1 million construction project was approved for FM 226 from SH 21 to SH 103, and from SH 103 to 5.6 miles south of SH 103, and is designed to upgrade guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects. The sections of the project will total a length of 33 miles. AR Brothers Construction Services, Inc., San Augustine, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Polk County: A $1.9 million construction project was approved for several locations that will upgrade and improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects. Locations of the work will include FM 350 from 2.6 miles north of FM 3152 to US 190 for a length of 12.5 miles; FM 2610 from SH 146 to the Liberty County line for a distance of 5 miles; FM 2665 from FM 1988 to SH 146 for a distance of 8.8 miles; and FM 3277 from FM 2457 to FM 3126 for a distance of 5.5 miles. L.C. Jordan & Son, Lufkin, TX will serve as contractor.
  • Houston County: An $877,759.58 construction project was approved that is designed to improve guardrail to design standard and safety treat fixed objects on SH 19 from 1.6 miles north of FM 231 to the Trinity County line for a distance of 11.5 miles. AR Brothers Construction Services, Inc., San Augustine, TX will serve as contractor.
  • San Jacinto County: A $672,388 project on FM 1725 was approved from SH 150 to the Liberty County line for a length of 17.8 miles. The project is designed to upgrade and improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects.
