Angelina College Visual and Performing Arts Department will host an opening reception for the annual faculty art exhibition Sept. 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Angelina Center for the Arts gallery. The exhibition will feature Angelina College art instructors’ artworks in various media. Admission is free.
Le’Anne Alexander is AC’s new art instructor/gallery curator. An accomplished painter, Alexander studied at the Art Students League of New York and received her Master of Fine Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. She will be showing recent works.
Photography instructor Jan Anderson-Paxson will show her award-winning photography. Anderson-Paxson has exhibited her works throughout the U.S. and in several shows abroad. Her black and white photographs are distinguished by her spare compositions and beautiful nuances of light and dark.
Reg Reynolds, graphic arts instructor, works in many media, including film, video, collage, sculpture and installation. This year’s work is a video, “The Cosmic Microwave Background: Figure and Ground in Art.”
Adjunct instructors will also exhibit their work. Ann Phifer Reyes, adjunct Art Appreciation instructor, is an accomplished portrait and landscape painter. Her medium is oil paint. She will be showing recent works.
Steve Paul is an adjunct Art Appreciation instructor and is also an accomplished painter. He will be showing his recent water color paintings.
Joy Fuller, adjunct Art Appreciation instructor, will exhibit a painting a photograph.
Sean Dupre is an adjunct faculty member who also teaches photography at Lufkin High School. He will be showing recent photographs.
Denise Davis is an adjunct instructor teaching Art Appreciation. An accomplished printmaker and installation artist, Davis will exhibit prints and drawings in the faculty exhibition.
