Angelina College Establishes Student Government Association

Date:

Angelina College students will hold elections this fall semester to form a student government association (SGA). The organization will be recognized under Region III of Texas Junior College Student Government Association. The main function of SGA is to serve as the voice of the students to administration, as well as to help plan and implement various student activities.

Jordan LaCaille, Student Life coordinator and SGA adviser said, “SGA will allow students the opportunity to develop skills they will use the rest of their lives, including problem-solving, communication and critical thinking.”

The SGA offices include president, vice president, secretary, parliamentarian, treasurer, public relations, first year representative, second year representative and on-campus representative. Each of the six academic divisions will also have a representative.

Students applying for an SGA office must have and maintain a 2.5 grade point average; the president must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Students must be in good standing at Angelina College, must not be on either scholastic or disciplinary probation, and must attend all SGA sponsored activities and events.

Applications for SGA are due Sept. 15 by noon and elections will start on Sept. 19. Ballots will be available through the AC Portal. For more information, contact Jordan LaCaille at (936) 633-3253 or
