Angelina College is announcing the creation of a student ambassador program. Anita Buckmaster of Lufkin, Jana Hudson of Alto, Reshonda Keys of Jasper, Diamond Moreland of Lufkin and Edgar Padilla of Diboll will all serve as student ambassadors for the 2016-2017 academic year.
To be eligible for the student ambassador program, applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at Angelina College, and have a grade-point average of 2.75 or higher. They must be willing to commit to serving a full academic year and have excellent communication and leadership potential.
According to Sarah Gandy, AC counselor, “Student ambassadors serve as a point of contact to prospective students, families and the surrounding community. They conduct campus tours, participate in New Student Orientation, assist during career and college fairs, and volunteer at campus and community events as needed. They also provide general college information during peak registration times.”
Through program participation, student ambassadors build leadership skills to prepare them for university transfer and/or job placement, cultivate relationships with community organizations, gain awareness of needs impacting Angelina County and the surrounding areas.
Anita Buckmaster, a freshman general curriculum major participating in the program said, “I like the fact that it’s going to be hands-on. We will be utilized by different departments and will get to know everybody.”
Student ambassadors are available by request online through the Student Affairs portal at: http://angelinacollege.orgsync.com/home. To learn more about the student ambassador program at Angelina College, contact Sarah Gandy and Conssandra Williams at acsa@angelina.edu
