Angelina College announces 2017-2018 Fine Arts Season

LUFKIN, TEXAS, June 13, 2017 – Angelina College’s Fine Arts Division has released its schedule of performances for the upcoming 2017-2018 season, packing a full list of events catering to every taste from music to visual arts to theatre.
Season subscriptions are available at the following levels: Corporate Donor, $750 (18 tickets per show); Scholarship Donor, $500 (12 tickets per show); Benefactor, $200 (6 tickets per show); Patron, $150 (4 tickets per show); Friend, $75 (2 tickets per show); and Regular, $40 (1 ticket per show). Music-only and theatre-only packages are also available. Season subscribers help fund Fine Arts scholarships.
Art exhibitions include the AC Faculty Art Exhibition, Sept. 5-26; “Pulling Threads” featuring Denise Stringer Davis, Oct. 3-30; Graphic Arts Student Exhibitions, Nov. 7-20 and April 24- May 2; “Fantasma Florece La Masacre” featuring sculpture by Wally Knight, March 6-28; and Visual Arts Student Exhibitions, Nov. 28-Dec. 7 and April 3-18; and a black history month exhibit and poetry event, Feb. 13. All scheduled exhibitions are free and take place in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery. The gallery will host an artist’s reception for each exhibit from 6-7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday evening of the exhibition’s opening.
Musical offerings this season include the AC Chamber Winds and AC Swingin’ Roadrunner Jazz Combo concert, Oct. 3; the AC Faculty Recital, featuring Larry Greer and Dr.
Karen McBee, Nov. 5; the AC Swingin’ Roadrunner Jazz Combo & AC Community Big Band Fall Concert, Nov. 14; the Fourth Annual “Holiday, Hope & Honor” concert featuring the AC Chorale, Chorale Alumni, as well as AC faculty and the East Texas Praise Symphony, Nov. 30; “A Winter/Christmas Concert” featuring the Lufkin Community Band and AC Chamber Winds, Dec. 3; the Angelina College Jazz Festival featuring a guest clinician for middle school and high schools students, March 8; AC Swingin’ Roadrunner Jazz Combo & AC Community Big Band concerts, March 8 and April 19; Showtime FINALE!, April 7; “A Night at the Movies!” featuring the AC Chorale, Wind Ensemble, East Texas Praise Symphony, and AC alumni and faculty, April 26; and “A Music Tour” presented by the Lufkin Community Band, April 29.
Theatre offerings include “A Year with Frog and Toad,” a story of friendship and adventure, Oct. 12-14; “You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running,” a collection of rollicking one-act plays, Nov. 16-18; “Bob: A Life in Five Acts,” chronicles the highly unusual life of Bob and his lifelong quest to become a “Great Man,” March 1-3; “Outrageous Theater!” will finish out the season April 19-21.

Nancy Reynolds
Nancy Reynolds has proudly served Angelina College since 2000. She began serving as AC’s communications coordinator in 2005. Prior to that, she was the public relations specialist. Reynolds earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught speech courses as an adjunct for AC for eight years. As communications coordinator, Reynolds’ responsibilities include the following: writing news releases, directing social media, collaborating with the marketing team, managing the Angelina College brand, coordinating publications, managing web content, coordinating internal communications and providing media training. Reynolds lives in Lufkin with her husband Reg. They have two sons, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and one cat.
