Angelina College and SFASU Create Articulation Agreement

Date:

Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin State University have created an articulation agreement that will allow AC Human Service graduates to transfer to earn their Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree at SFASU.

Patricia Wars, AC Human Services program lead instructor, said, “We worked with Dr. Robbie Steward, chair of SFA’s Department of Human Services, to provide a seamless transition for our graduates to move on to earn their bachelor’s degree. This agreement ensures that there are no gaps for students transfering to SFA after completing their associate degree at AC.”

Human Services students at Angelina College have the option of earning first earn their Level 1 Basic Certficate, or their Level 1 Intermediate Certificate before earning their associate degree. “This is especially helpful for students who have not been in school for a long time and want to build their success in college studies,” Wars said.

AC’s Human Services program prepares graduates for case management careers as social services specialists, advocates for sexual assault victims, family advocate specialists, faith-based case workers, Texas Works advisors at HHS, CPS

human services technicians, career advisors for those in correctional facilities, and at-risk youth workers.

Those earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Services can expect to find employment as probation/parole officers, child/adult protective services specialists, family services specialists, mental health clinicians, social services coordinators, disability counselors, ombudsmen, correctional services counselors, and health prevention specialists.
