Angelina Arts Alliance Big Reveal Of City-Wide Mobilizing Project

Date:

Angelina Arts Alliance is thrilled to reveal the end result of the 15th anniversary project Mobilizing Our Community with a public reception at the Temple Theater Friday, November 13th, at 6:30 pm. Actor, educator and visual artist, Kevin Reese, will be on hand at the reception, to discuss the week-long project, answer questions, and thank all the members of the community that gave their time and energy to bring the project to fruition.

100_0820During a five-day artist residency in Lufkin, Kevin worked with over 200 participants to create a large scale mobile sculpture consisting of 15 separate permanent pieces of art for public display—one for each of the Arts Alliance’s 15 years. After the reception, the 15 mobiles will be installed at schools, hospitals, and local businesses throughout the community. The ‘Big Reveal’ reception is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Tracy Pinkerton, Arts Alliance Executive Director explained “The purpose of Mobilizing Our Community is to bring people together, from all walks of our society, with different ethnic, educational, and professional backgrounds to work together in a collaborative effort, and to be enriched by the experience, and so far, that is exactly the outcome!”

Mobilizing our Community is sponsored by The Ernest L. Kurth, Jr. Charitable Foundation.
