AC Soccer Teams Split at Jacksonville: Lady Roadrunners Cruise, Roadrunners Drop Heartbreaker

Date:

JACKSONVILLE – Angelina College soccer teams on Friday were on the road for conference matchups against Jacksonville College, with the Lady Roadrunners rolling to a 4-1 win and the Roadrunners dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker.

The Roadrunners will host No. 4 Tyler Junior College at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jase Magers Field on the Lufkin High School campus.

Lady Roadrunners 4, Jacksonville 1

AC’s ladies got a little of everyone involved in winning their second conference game against a single loss, taking down the Lady Jaguars by a 4-1 score.

Kennedy Sessions opened the AC scoring with a breakaway goal just two minutes into the match. Jade Dewbre added another breakaway goal in the 30th minute, and the Lady Roadrunners took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

Camryn Garcia struck early in the second half, sending home a deflection off a Sydney Flowers shot with just two minutes elapsed. Naddia Garcia capped the scoring with yet another breakaway goal in the 60th minute.

The Lady Roadrunners (4-3, 2-1) host Brookhaven College in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m. at Jase Magers Field.

Jacksonville 3, Roadrunners 2

Roadrunner goalkeeper Julian Ramirez finished with eight saves, none of which were routine, but the Jaguars’ relentless offensive attack paid off late in a 3-2 AC loss.

Just 90 seconds after Roadrunners Luis Garcia and Santiago Maya teamed up beautifully to give the ‘Runners a 2-1 lead, Jacksonville’s Amin Myzed knocked home a header off a corner kick to even the score.

Then, with just 11 minutes to play, Jaguar Othon Oliveira snagged a deflection and banged it home for Jacksonville’s final lead of the match.

Garcia and Maya scored goals for the Roadrunners, now 2-5, 1-4 on the season.

The Roadrunners host No. 4 Tyler Junior College on Saturday. Kickoff at Jase Magers Field in Lufkin is 5 p.m.
