Roadrunners Hosting Blinn College on Wednesday

Date:

Saturday’s 78-65 road loss to San Jacinto College’s Ravens – the first-place team in the Region XIV conference’s South Zone – may have been frustrating for an Angelina College team hoping to extend a four-game win streak, but the news heading into this week’s games isn’t all bad for the Roadrunners.

For one, the loss didn’t change the ‘Runners’ spot in the standings. AC (14-7, 7-4) is still in second place, a game and a half behind the Ravens. With eight games remaining in the regular season, there’s time for the Roadrunners to make a run for the top spot before the conference tournament begins on March 1.

Even better, the Roadrunners have another streak in their favor: Not since the season’s opening weekend has AC lost back-to-back games. Prior to Saturday’s loss, the ‘Runners last fell on the road at Navarro on a buzzer-beater. AC promptly went on a four-game tear to vault even closer to the Zone lead.

On Wednesday, the Roadrunners will host Blinn College at Shands Gymnasium – where AC is 8-2 on the season – in an effort to kick-start yet another streak. The Bucs (14-6, 4-6) have lost four straight conference games, but two of those occurred in overtime.

Wednesday will feature just one game, with AC’s Lady Roadrunners getting a night off with a bye. The Roadrunners and Buccaneers tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Live audio/video streaming will be available at roadrunnerslive.com.
